First & Second Orthodontic Visit

During your first visit at Embrace Our World Orthodontics, we will examine your teeth, mouth, and jawbone to determine which orthodontic issues are present. We also ask that you fill out our patient forms so that your orthodontist is familiar with your dental and medical history. Following this initial appointment, we will discuss common orthodontic problems and choose your orthodontic appliances during your second visit. Your orthodontist will go through all of our options including traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, and Invisalign. We can look at some before & after photos, so you can see previous patients and their orthodontic transformations. At this time, we will encourage you to ask any questions you may have and we will go through some frequently asked questions if you haven’t asked them already.

Taking Care Of Your Teeth & Orthodontic Appliances

We understand that your braces or Invisalign will be new and feel a bit different on your teeth. For that reason, we’ve put together some tips on how to care for your orthodontic appliances and your teeth in any situation.

  • Orthodontic Emergencies: if you have experienced a minor orthodontic problem, please follow our emergency protocol. However, if you have had trauma or injury to the face, mouth, or teeth, please contact our office immediately.
  • Brushing & Flossing: good oral hygiene is still necessary throughout your orthodontic treatment. Although it may be a little difficult at first, you must brush your teeth and braces twice a day and floss once a day. This is imperative to your orthodontic treatment plan.
  • Foods to Avoid: there are some foods that may cause harm to your orthodontic appliance and we recommend you avoid these foods at all cost. Basically, you should not eat hard foods like raw carrots, nuts, or hard candies; sticky foods like toffee and caramel; and sugary foods like cakes and sweets.
  • Lottery System & Prizes: if you have been taking extra good care of your teeth and braces or Invisalign, our orthodontic team will reward you. Learn how you can earn prizes by brushing effectively, attending appointments on time, and keeping your appliances in tact.braces
